In this episode of The Firm Public Relations & Marketing's Virtual PR Water Cooler, award-winning reporter Tony Illia shares his tips on how to effectively pitch stories to the media.
Lin Huang, a Traditional Chinese Feng Shui Master and owner of Qi Gallery, paid a visit to The Firm and left behind some Chi-friendly items to create a more fruitful, healthy, and harmonious environment for working. Take a look and you may be surprised by their significance.
Significance:
Placing beautiful flowers in various locations throughout an office is one of the easiest ways to enhance and enliven office Chi.
The number and type of flowers is related to the results that are sought.
»An even number of flowers promotes love and relationships
»Mixed flowers promote prosperity
»One flower promotes career and fame
Significance:
The bamboo plant is one of the most popular and potent symbols of longevity.
The triangle arrangement creates protection and good fortune Chi.
Plant life in an office can energize continued prosperity, helping a business survive hard times and flourish in good times.
Significance:
The three-legged frog with coins in its mouth signifies bringing wealth into the office.
A new day's wealth is brought in by turning the frog to face the door in the morning. Facing the frog away from the door at the end of the day will guard against any wealth escaping.

A few highlights for some of the people we work with on a daily basis:
» Canyon Ranch SpaClub at The Venetian and The Palazzo recently launched the Canyon Ranch Healthy Feet clinic providing gait analysis, orthotics and an array of rejuvenating foot and leg therapies. Keep your feet healthy!
» The Southern Nevada Immunization and Health Coalition has partnered with the Consulate of Mexico to help infants and families stay healthy by celebrating National Infant Immunization Week (April 25-29) with free immunization clinics.
» Due to popular demand of the students, University of Phoenix - Las Vegas has created a brand new Criminal Justice and Security department for its four learning centers. This should come as no surprise with all of the popular television drama’s like “CSI,” “Law and Order” and “The Closer.”
Are you on the list?... Listorious. If not, you should be. Between the tweeting, tracking and following Twitter users, things can get a little disorganized but that doesn’t have to be the case. Listorious, a Twitter search tool, takes the hassle out of hunting down and creating Twitter user lists that may have already been created by more experienced users.
For example, if you're looking for a comprehensive list of all the Las Vegas casinos with Twitter accounts, simply type "Las Vegas Casinos" in the search field found on the homepage and watch as multiple lists appear. Once you have selected a list that you like, you can subscribe by clicking 'follow list' at which point a separate newsfeed will appear alongside the main timeline of those you follow. As an added benefit, you can monitor the list without adding to your overall “following” user count.
Traditionally, in this section we share what we as a company are obsessing over including the most recent app, quirky gadget or trending topic. This time, we thought we would give Solveig a chance to share with you what she is obsessing over in her own words.
“I really love dogs...they don't talk back (usually) and are always there for you no matter what. We have a gorgeous mutt named Hooch and most evenings you will find me attempting to walk (or run) him around our neighborhood. My daily obsession right now is to teach Hooch to heel while on these walks, and not pull me off my feet when he sees other dogs. He just wants to play, but I keep getting my neck and shoulder wrenched. Do you have any tips or advice on how to get this hound under control?”
Share your thoughts and encouragement with Solveig on Facebook.
